General Election 2024 announcement

This is a transcript of the announcement Prime Minister Declan made outside The Lobby.

Good afternoon,

At the start of the year I confirmed Byron's first election would be held this year. I stand here now to announce it. Byron will officially be the first country to hold an election and polls will be open from the 15th to the 17th July across the entire country.

From the moment I founded Byron, I've made sure it has remained an absolute pioneer in almost every single factor. Byron is the biggest country by population, landmass and economy including per capita. We boast the strongest armed forces which maintains world peace. We have strong relations with our neighbours and further. We have multicultural cities with thriving retail and offices. We have strong ethics and respect. We produce no emissions, making sustainability the core to what we do. We have a lot to be proud of.

I have always been clear that Byron is strongly a democracy, and in alignment with triennial elections and the nearing of Byron's 3rd Founding Day; it is now that you must decide. Decide where this country goes next.

I will also officially confirm how Byron's elections will take place. Despite the media's speculation, we will allow Byrish citizens aged 16 and over to participate in voting. The country will use an alternative voting system. And in a change to the previous plan set out by the Electoral Commission, I will allow non centred or non leaning parties to participate in elections. Personally, I do not agree with the values far-left or right parties hold; they are lobsided and extreme. They violate the values I have endeavoured this country in, but nevertheless democracy should prevail and the Electoral Commission will announce 2 more parties participating by this evening.

Under my leadership, Byron has made extraordinary growth - outpacing every other country in the world. Just know that has lead to one thing: when Byron sneezes, the world will catch a cold.

I'm grateful to those who have helped us build what we have. I would like to extend my greatest gratitude to our allies and my colleagues in the building behind me - and you, for being the beating heart this country relies on, and for making this your home. Being Prime Minister and Founder of Byron has my greatest gratitude, I know we can do even more if we carry on.
